Customer Research

To find out how to best market our product, we first created a demands and wish list for the product and then sent out a student survey.

To begin the design process, we needed to figure out what we needed the product to accomplish and what we wished it could accomplish. We focused on all aspects of the design including the materials, manufacturing, cost, etc. This was all focused around making our product the best it could be for customers on the market.

There was four main takeaways about our design and how our customers wanted it to be that we received from this survey. The four main questions were:

  1. Do you think a one inch diameter for the size of the circular "water bubble" is a good size?
  2. How much would you be willing to spend to buy a water bubble?
  3. What liquid do you want the water bubble to contain?
  4. Where do you think the water bubbles would be most successively sold/distributed?

Results: our results showed that the customers wanted a 1 in. in diameter water bubble that contained water with added electrolytes. They also said they would be best suited for distributing at marathon races and would spend up to a $1 on them. Therefore we created our product to be geared towards runners who would need a quick replenish of electrolyte during a race. We also were able to figure out how much money we should sell them for.
